Smart pistols will appear in the USA
(ORDO NEWS) — Smart pistols that can only be fired by authorized users may soon become available to American consumers after two decades of reliability questions and concerns.
LodeStar Works has unveiled its 9mm smart pistol for shareholders and investors in Boise. And SmartGunz LLC claims that police officers are already beta testing its product – a similar, but simpler model.
LodeStar co-founder Gareth Glaser said smart pistols can prevent accidental tragedies by using technology to authenticate the user’s identity and disable the weapon if someone else tries to fire it.
It will also render lost or stolen weapons useless and ensure the safety of police officers and prison guards who fear the capture of their defenses.
Both companies hope to launch their product later this year. The LodeStar pistol will retail for $ 895.
