(ORDO NEWS) — Many people drink wine for their health benefits. Of course, there are chances that if you drink wine in moderation from time to time, you can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and prolong life. But still, the benefits of wine are too much exaggerated.
Wine lowers blood pressure
Some studies show that red wine can lower blood pressure, which in turn has a positive effect on the cardiovascular system. At the same time, it was possible to obtain a completely opposite result.
Robert Kloner, director of cardiovascular research at Huntington, says more research is needed to determine whether wine affects the heart or whether other factors are involved.
In 2012, a study was conducted that provided the most convincing result. Scientists have found that if you drink non-alcoholic red wine to men with a high risk of cardiovascular disease, then in this case the pressure actually drops.
The experiment involved 67 men, whose age was in the range of 55-75 years. All of them either suffered from diabetes or had a predisposition to other heart problems.
For 4 weeks they drank regular red wine first, then non-alcoholic and at the end of each day they drank moderate amounts of gin.
The experts found that with the help of non-alcoholic red wine, it was possible to reduce systolic pressure by 6 points.
If you drink more wine
If a person drinks too much wine – for women 1 glass a day and for men 2, then this will provoke the opposite effect. The risk of cardiovascular diseases and hypertension will increase several times.
A large amount of alcohol raises the level of triglycerides in the blood, which actively interact with bad cholesterol, which can lead to an early stroke or heart attack.
Therefore, you can drink a glass of red wine, but do not hope that in this way you can strengthen your heart.
