US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The United States made the decision to reduce aid to the Afghan authorities by $ 1 billion due to the disruption of negotiations to create an “inclusive government” in Afghanistan, said US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, his press service on Twitter reported March 23.
At the same time, Pompeo expressed regret over the failure to sign the agreement. He noted that “this poses a direct threat to US national interests.”
The Secretary of State warned that US authorities are ready to reduce another $ 1 billion in the amount of assistance that should be provided next year.
As reported, on March 23, Mike Pompeo arrived in Afghanistan on an unofficial visit.
