US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The DPRK on Sunday launched two short-range ballistic missiles, their flight length was 230 kilometers. This was announced on Sunday by Yonhap agency with reference to a statement by the Committee of the Chiefs of Staff (KNS) of the Republic of Korea.
“The DPRK launched an unidentified shell towards the Sea of Japan,” Yonhap quoted the South Korean KNS as saying.
According to him, launched ballistic missiles reached a maximum height of 30 kilometers.
Earlier, the NHK television channel reported that, according to the Japanese government, the DPRK launched two short-range ballistic missiles, both of which did not reach the country’s exclusive economic zone in the Sea of Japan. At the moment, no damage is reported to fishing vessels that might be in the area of the fall of the missiles.
Under the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Japan, a crisis headquarters was created to collect information on the tests conducted by Pyongyang. As Japanese Defense Minister Taro Kono noted, the Japanese military is currently conducting a detailed analysis of available launch data.
On March 22, the Central Telegraph Agency of Korea ( CTAC ) informed that on June 21, Chairman of the State Council of the DPRK Kim Jong-un watched the launches of new tactical missiles being developed in the republic.
According to the South Korean Committee of Chiefs of Staff (KNS), the DPRK then launched two short-range ballistic missiles from the province of Pyongan-Pukhto on the east coast of the country in the direction of the sea.
On March 2 and 9, Kim Jong-un also led the long-range artillery exercises, during which short-range ballistic missiles were launched.
The launch was the fourth since the beginning of 2020. In December last year, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un announced that his country would soon introduce new strategic weapons.
