NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — Japanese milk and dairy products manufacturer Seki Milk has found an unusual way to encourage schoolchildren to finish their milk at lunch – by decorating the bottles with manga comics.
Seki Milk, based in Gifu Prefecture, supplies its products to local schools but has seen a decline in milk consumption in recent years. Their own research has shown that about 65% of schoolchildren do not finish their milk servings, which leads to unnecessary waste and damage to children’s health, since milk is an important source of calcium and nutrients.
To solve this problem, Seki Milk took inspiration from manga culture, a Japanese version of comic books that is popular among different age groups. The company has partnered with a manga studio to create a unique manga that can only be seen after drinking milk from a bottle.
Seki Milk has teamed up with advertising agency VOJ to create an exciting manga series. They printed the manga on the bottles with white ink, making it visible only after the milk starts pouring out. This innovative approach makes milk consumption more fun for schoolchildren.
While students technically don’t have to drink milk to read the manga (they can just throw the milk away), Seki Milk deserves kudos for a bold idea that could help combat the problem of under-drinking milk in schools and do it in a fun and engaging way.
