(ORDO NEWS) — For many years there has been interest in ancient aliens and their derivative offshoots. I myself became familiar with the concept of ancient aliens many years ago by reading various ancient epics, legends and tales.
The more I read, the more I became convinced that ancient texts were used to depict ancient history and were not just fairy tales.
Moreover, this history of mankind was very different from the one we were taught at school. It was the answer to archaeological mysteries, and, as they began to write everywhere later, these are aliens!
As time went on, I began to form a different view of these theories. While some I tended to hold on to, others I began to consider as alternative explanations, especially as I continued to study sociology, cultural anthropology, and archeology.
While I didn’t necessarily fully accept the ancient astronaut hypothesis, I began to believe, based on research, that the ancient world was much more technologically advanced than we are told. The histories of ancient India, Europe and other countries seemed to confirm this.
These stories seemed to describe very technologically sophisticated devices through the prism of a less technologically advanced society. This is usually where problems begin and sometimes end.
The transformation of myths into reality is a process fraught with dangers. The researcher must use the myth as a description and apply the appropriate context while maintaining the narrative itself.
This process of cultural comparison can be very pure, but at the same time not very pure, because basically you have to make assumptions. The key is to make assumptions that seem contextual.
For example, look at an ordinary loom and think, could you understand its purpose if you were a Stone Age person?
The reason I point this out is because although the look of the loom is different from the ancient flying machine recorded through myth and parable, the process of transforming it is the same.
Discard the fantasy nature and assume that what is being described is real, potentially, and an accurate description of something, but through the prism of a different culture or time.
Arthur Clarke wisely remarked in his Third Law:
“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
Charles Fort also pointed this out in his book Wild Talents:
“… a notion which one day may be considered intelligible, but which in these primitive times is so far beyond what is said to be known, that this is what I mean by magic.”
These quotes, in fact, hint that when a person is faced with a technology much more advanced than his own, he returns to magic to explain its operation.
It’s not like the Middle Ages, when it was believed that the disease was caused by a frog in the stomach, and you were taken to the doctor to dissolve or remove the frog, and today you go to the doctor, he gives you antibiotics and sends you home to watch “Field of Miracles”.
Therefore, it is from this point of view that we must look at the idea of Nibiru and what it could be, or rather what it is.
Zecharia Sitchin
For years, Zecharia Sitchin has been working to create a cosmology around the Anunaki, a supposed race of extraterrestrials (not from Earth) who genetically engineered humans to work in huge gold mines.
The gold was then transported to their home planet of Nibiru. To do this, he relied on the Sumerian tablets, which he himself translated.
Sitchin himself was born in Azerbaijan, received an economics degree from the University of London, then moved to the United States and began working for a shipping company.
It was while working for a shipping company that he became interested in the Sumerians and later learned cuneiform, the Sumerian writing system, himself. It was from his self-education that his translations developed.
Sitchin’s work has been criticized by many scholars for inaccuracies in the underlying translations. The Sumerian language and idioms are by now fairly well understood, and many scholars point out inaccuracies when it comes to translations.
I think it was these mistranslations and his drive to prove the Anunnaki hypothesis that may have led to the confusion we are in today. Sitchin did find interesting things in his Sumerian texts, but his ideology may have influenced his final conclusions.
Nibiru
So what is Nibiru? According to Sitchin’s hypothesis, Nibiru was home to the mysterious Anunaki. It was a mysterious planet beyond Pluto with a very eccentric orbit. According to Sitchin, a planet appeared in the solar system every 3600 years.
Why did she come to Earth?
Due to this eccentric orbit, the planet’s atmosphere was being destroyed, and Anunaki engineers worked feverishly to find a way to restore it.
This repair mechanism developed by the Anunnaki apparently required a huge amount of gold, resulting in the Anunaki coming to Earth as it was a rich source of gold.
When the Anunaki arrived on Earth, they found that the gold mining process was too labor intensive, so they genetically engineered humanity to serve as mining slaves for gold to be brought back to Nibiru to power their atmospheric generators.
The idea of Nibiru has not been without criticism, as K. Leroy Ellenburger writes in a 1981 article in the journal Frontiers of Science:
“Sitchin argues that, given an equal start, the Nephilim evolved on Nibiru 45 million years earlier than on Earth, with its apparently more favorable conditions.
Such an outcome is, to put it mildly, unlikely, since Nibiru would have spent more than 99% of its time outside of Pluto.
Explanation Sitchin that heat from radioactive decay and a thick atmosphere warm Nibiru is absurd and does not solve the problem of darkness in deep space.
It is also inexplicable how the Nephilim, who evolved long after Nibiru’s arrival, knew what happened when Nibiru first entered the solar system.” .
Ellenburger continues:
“… implies an orbit with a semi-major axis of 235 astronomical units, extending from the asteroid belt twelve times farther from the Sun than Pluto.
Elementary perturbation theory shows that under the most favorable circumstances to avoid close collisions with other planets, no body with such an eccentric orbit will not retain the same period for two successive passes.
Over twelve orbits, the object will either be ejected or become a short-period object. Thus, the unsuccessful search for a transplutonian planet by T.C. Van Flandern of the Military the US Naval Observatory, which Sitchin uses to support his thesis, have no support.”
This is just one of many papers that have been written over the years criticizing the idea of Nibiru as Planet X.
Scientifically, as well as logically, there is very little scientific evidence to support the existence of such a planet with a wildly eccentric orbit.
However, there is plenty of conventional and not-so-conventional evidence for the existence of Planet X.
In 2015, Caltech astronomers Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown announced that they had created a workable mathematical model that showed the presence of a new planet (Planet X) beyond Neptune.
The orbit of this stellar body is 20,000 years (or more) compared to Sitchin’s model, which assumed an orbit of 3600 years.
In recent years, more and more scientific papers have appeared that talk about a “rogue planet” in our solar system, but it is extremely difficult to detect it due to the fact that it is “blacker than black”, but it is “seen” by the influence that it exerts on nearby planets. It is called Planet-9. Prior to that, it was called Planet-10.
So what is Nibiru?
Although there is evidence for the existence of Planet X, it does not fit the Nibiru model. So what is Nibiru? According to Dr. Michael Heiser and many other linguistic scientists, Nibiru is a “crossing place” or “ferry/ford/ferry boat”. In his analysis of Nibiru, Dr. Heiser notes the following:
“The meaning of the word is, of course, determined by the context. “Nibiru” (more technically and correctly transliterated as “neberu”) can mean several things:
“place of crossing” or “fee for crossing” – In the Epic of Gilgamesh, for example, we read a line (surprisingly similar to one of the descriptions in the Sermon on the Mount): “Straight is the point of intersection (nibiru; gate), and narrow is the path leading to it “.
In one Sumero-Akkadian text, the geographical name of the village is called “Ne-bar-ti-Ash-shur” (“Crossing Place of Ashur”). Another text dealing with the fee for the services of a boatman ferrying people across the water notes that the passenger paid “shikil kaspum sha ne-bi-ri-tim” (“silver for the ferry fee”).
“ferry, ford”; “ferry boat”; “(act of) crossing” – For example, one Akkadian text speaks of a military enemy, the Arameans: “A-ra-mu nakirma bab ni-bi-ri sha GN itsbat” (“The Arameans were rebellious and took up a position at the entrance to the ford [ gate, crossing point]”).
In another case, it is said about the Elamites: “ina ID Abani ni-bi-ru u-cha-du-u” (“[to] cut off the ford [bridge, crossing] of the river Abani”).
I think the “root idea” of the “nibiru group of words and its forms as meaning something in relation to ‘crossing’ is clear, and so we will move on.”
Nibiru as a crossing, ferry station or gate.
This makes Nibiru very interesting, but we’ll get to that in a bit.
So what about the Anunnaki, who are they?
The traditional translation of the phrase “Anunnaki” translates as “descendants” or “children” of Anu, An or Anu, god of the sky (i.e. sky) and leader of the Sumerian pantheon, and Ki, who was the goddess of the earth.
This leads us in a very interesting direction of investigation because Anu was said to rule over the sky or heavens.
The reason this is particularly interesting is that this concept of Heaven was actually what they call the third dome of heaven, or, subsequently, a barrier protecting the earth from the other world.
It should also be noted that Anu’s realm was also the highest of the celestial domes, meaning there were several of them, and outside of Anu’s realm was a void.
Ki, on the other hand, was the balance, mother of the earth, and some scholars associate her with the goddess Ninhursag – the goddess of mountains and fertility, as well as the protector of the earth.
So that’s where they come from, but who are they?
Actually it’s hard to say. Many surviving texts speak of them as a group rather than as individuals. There are instances where specific Anunnaki are represented, but this appears to be the exception rather than the rule.
Ancient cultures believed that the Anunnaki were sky gods of great power, and according to Enki and the world order, the Anunnaki “arrange the fate of mankind”, but are implied to be patrons.
This is especially important given that many of the Anunnaki were assigned to certain cities, and many had to “take their dwellings” in various cities.
Did the Annunaki cause the Flood?
I found quite a lot of books, mostly in French (French library), and some in German. Scientific books. Archeology, myths, the study of the connection of the Annunaki with the Flood. The books date mainly from 1800-1880.
I knew about the connection of the Annunaki race with the Great Flood from the Sumerian epics before, but it’s one thing when the Annunaki gods flew on the star Marduk and then flew away, and quite another when the Annunaki apparently didn’t fly anywhere, but remained to live at the bottom world ocean.
Quotes from various books:
“ANUNNAKI (gods of the great waters) spew waves and make the earth tremble with their power, raise a mountain of waves to the sky and all light becomes darkness.
The Anunnaki rule over underground waters, over any springs. Moreover, it is they who uphold the foundations of the earth, it is they who shake it in the day of their wrath. Anunnaki gods of earthquakes.
The Annunaki are a species of infernal and sea gods.
Anunnaki – Those who undertook the destruction of mankind. The Anunnaki, the spirits of the earth, along with the gods who guided them, decided to destroy humanity and did the job.
The Annunaki extinguished all light.
Annunaki, angels of the earth, among whom are countless spirits”
How did the Anunnaki change over time?
Another interesting side of this issue is how the Anunnaki changed over time. I believe this will play a very important role in understanding the Anunnaki in the future.
Although in the early stages they were perceived as gods of the sky, descended from Anu, the perception of the Anunnaki changed starting from 1830 BC, during the ancient Babylonian period.
At this time, a new group called the Igigi appeared in the Babylonian pantheon, but this is not entirely clear, but what is clear is that in the Atra-Khasis epic, the Igigi are considered as a lower generation of gods subordinate to the Anunnaki.
At some point (they say 40 days, but this may be a myth) the Igigi rebel against the Anunnaki and Enki creates humans to replace them.
By the Middle Period (1592 BC – 1155 BC), the Anunnaki turn into gods of the underworld . From the ancient text it follows that the entire culture of the Anunnaki moved underground. They are no longer associated with heaven or earth.
Finally, in the “Epic of Gilgamesh” (1200 BC), the Anunnaki appear as seven judges who mourn the death of mankind. This is far from the original ideas about the majestic heavenly gods ruling over the earth.
So what does it all mean?
So what does it all mean? At this point in history, anything beyond actual translations is pure speculation. But the point seems to be that Sitchin’s translations, and the rich myth built around them, do not stand up to scrutiny. The implications of scientific translation seem to take us down a very different path.
As I said, I believe that many myths have a basis, and of course, any transliteration of such things is a thought experiment at best, but I believe that there is enough information here to suggest an alternative plot or story related to Anunnaki.
From the Vedas, we know that there was at least one fairly high-tech civilization on Earth, and this civilization was brought to its knees during a cataclysmic war between two brothers for the throne of their deceased father.
Could the history of the Anunnaki also be part of this history? It’s entirely possible, and the themes seem to overlap. So let’s look at these topics one by one.
Nibiru:
Based on the scientific translations above, it appears that Nibiru was not a planet, but a staging post, perhaps a star port. It was the boundary point for going beyond the Earth.
It is important to note that Anu is closely associated with the north orbital pole and the constellation Draco. Is it possible that Anu, “He who is on high”, commanded a facility in polar orbit above the Earth?
I would guess that this is the likely meaning, and that Nibiru was the location used for launching or taking off to fly to Anu’s station or base.
From there, he would command the last and highest realm of heaven’s defense as supreme commander. This is also explained by the fact that although Anu was the supreme god, he was rarely worshipped.
This fell to the lesser Anunnaki who commanded other units. The Anunnaki would have been more visible to the local population.
This is possible if the Mahabharata is historically accurate and some sort of super-weapon was used in the final battle, which many researchers attribute to a nuclear or thermonuclear device that was used to destroy the opposing city. Such a weapon would likely be deployed from orbit and descend from the sky.
Anunnaki:
Descriptions of the Anunnaki themselves represent another facet of this discussion. If Anu was indeed a cosmic or perhaps supreme commander, then the idea that the Anunnaki settled in various ancient cities makes sense again. Perhaps they would have been regional commanders assigned to different geographic regions.
In addition, they were supposed to be in command, and therefore have a higher status, so the story could translate this as a kind of god. In the book “Mesopotamien. Die Mythologie der Sumerer und Akkader” D.O.
Edzard found mention of 50 Anunnaki living in the city of Eridu. This is consistent with the idea of a military role for the Anunnaki, since Eridu was a major population center in southern Mesoptamia.
In the Sumerian King List, Eridu is called the city of the first kings and is translated as “place of power” or “place of leadership”, which means that it could be a major center of military control. In the Sumerian King List, Eridu is described as follows:
“Alulim became king in Eridu; he ruled for 28,800 years. Alalngar ruled for 36,000 years. 2 kings; they ruled for 64,800 years. Then Eridu fell, and the kingdom passed to Bad-tibir.”
Other Anunnaki were located in other places, for example, Inanna was attributed to Venus, Utu was associated with the Sun, Nanna – with the Moon, Enlil – with the northern sky, Enki – with the southern, and so on.
These associations could be related to their control points or responsibilities, such as being in charge of the moon, the northern sky or earth, etc.
The main thing here is to see the associations in a larger context and understand that transliteration is at least 3,000 years of translation, and if what I believe to be true, then 3,000 years of documentation of an event that happened 15,000 years ago or more.
Another element that is very interesting here is the notion that the Anunnaki change over time.
At first, the Anunnaki are numerous, but over time this changes, the Anunnaki go underground and their number decreases significantly. This could have been the result of a mysterious war that had taken place.
If the surface were attacked or damaged, the survivors would be forced to retreat underground into bunkers. This explains how, out of the huge resources of the Anunnaki, of which there were 50 in Eridu alone, seven people remained guarding the underworld.
Other sources speak of 600 Anunnaki in the underworld, but again their presence underground suggests that they moved underground as survivors of some cataclysmic event or war.
Another part of this vast history are the Igigi. Appearing in the Old Babylonian period, the exact relationship of the Igigi is unknown, but it is known that they eventually rebelled, which is recorded in the Middle Babylonian period – 45 years later, and attacked the Anunnaki . This action implies that some sort of civil war took place at that time.
When the Igigi rebelled and were defeated by the Anunnaki, Enki is said to have created humans to take their place. Or perhaps humans have simply taken their place in the larger mechanics of Anunnaki culture.
It’s important to remember that we’re dealing with transliteration and notation, so what we think of as human might not be human to them.
In the end, by the eighth century BC, the Anunnaki, now living underground, become only a shadow of their former self and are hostile to humanity.
In a broader context, this is a compelling comparison of the Anunnaki and humanity to Wells’ epic time travel book The Time Machine.
In this book, at some point in the far future, a cataclysmic war occurs, and the survivors move underground and become Morlocks, leaving a part of the people called Aloy on the surface.
The relationship between the late stage Anunnaki and humanity seems to replicate this: the Anunnaki live underground, while humans live above the earth.
Finally
Because of the age of these stories and the centuries and millennia of transliteration, no one will ever know for sure what happened. The best we can do is to use cultural comparison and try to deconstruct what happened as much as possible.
This article is an attempt to do this, and should be taken as an attempt, because there are no clear answers to these questions.
What is really important here is to use accurate translations, or at least the best available ones, because only with their help can we begin to understand what happened or happened in those primitive times.
