US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — In the UK, 19 NHS personnel died from coronavirus, which they contracted due to a lack of personal protective equipment. This was announced on Saturday, April 11, by the head of the British Ministry of Health, Matt Hancock.
According to The Guardian , the deaths occurred amid a statement by the minister in which he urged physicians to overuse personal protective equipment.
At the same time, Hancock explained that he did not know that 19 doctors had died due to lack of this equipment. He also added that their deaths will be investigated, as it is likely that they became infected outside the hospitals.
The head of the British Ministry of Health noted that “his heart is breaking” from the fact that many of them are those who came to the country to work at the NHS. At the same time, Hancock called for a tribute to their memory, as they literally give their lives for the NHS.

The total number of victims of the disease in the country reached 8958. According to the publication, the number of deaths from COVID-19 over the past 24 hours was a record for the United Kingdom. In total, 70,783 people are infected in the country today.
