(ORDO NEWS) — In the warm season, you can easily get a spider bite in nature. A person may simply not notice a dangerous insect due to its natural camouflage.
What to do if you are bitten by a spider, doctors from the National Health Service of Ukraine told.
What to do when bitten by a spider
If an insect has attacked, it is advisable to identify it. If possible, do not panic and try to remember what the spider looked like.
Didn’t have time to look at the spider? That’s OK. It is necessary to examine the site of the bite, a sting may remain in it.
If this happens, carefully remove the stinger with tweezers. Wash the injured area with soap and water.
The bite site may begin to itch. This is the body’s reaction to spider venom. It is necessary to be patient, try not to touch this place with your hands.
To reduce the body’s reaction, you can take allergy medications: suprastin or dexamethasone, fenistil.
Edema may appear at the site of the bite. Then make a soda compress or apply cold.
In Ukraine, only karakurt and tarantulas are known to be deadly poisonous spiders. But the danger may be more unpredictable.
Suppose a neighbor introduced a dangerous exotic insect, and it escaped.
Or a person cannot predict the body’s reaction to an insect bite until it happens. Therefore, always keep antihistamines in the medicine cabinet.
And if after a bite a person begins to sweat profusely, shortness of breath and tachycardia, dizziness and confusion appear, it is necessary to call an ambulance and tell what happened.
If there are people around, ask them for help. When you personally witnessed such an event, you can help the victim as follows:
- Put it, you can even on the floor, put a jacket, a bag under your head, the main thing is that the head is higher than the body
- Call an ambulance
Doctors will give more recommendations while they go to the scene. And of course, take care of yourself and be careful.
