US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — JAMA Psychiatry has published material stating that scientists from Karolinsky and Gothenburg Universities have begun testing a hormonal drug to treat pedophilia.
For the study, scientists involved about 52 men who were diagnosed with pedophilic disorder. So, as part of the experiments, the participants were divided into two groups: one took a hormonal drug to lower testosterone levels, while the second received a placebo.
As a result, it was found that the participants in the first group reduced their attraction to minors literally two weeks after the start of the experiment. The participants themselves expressed a desire to continue treatment with this drug. However, scientists noted the need for more extensive studies in order to find out if this therapy has side effects.
