(ORDO NEWS) — The Kenyan chess player tried to deceive the whole world by pretending to be a woman.
He participated in a chess tournament and scored two victories against experienced chess players, a former champion of the competition and a leading chess player from Uganda.
At first glance, the story seemed amazing – an unknown chess player defeated two of the best chess players in Africa.
However, after some time, the chess player was caught cheating. After the suspicions of other participants in the tournament, he had to show documents, where it turned out that he was a man.
The player admitted that he wanted to win the competition and collect the $3,815 cash prize.
The player did not receive prize money for his victories and was disqualified. This caused a lot of talk in the chess community about how fair and ethical it is to other participants.
Some expressed regret that the Kenyan chess player tried to deceive everyone, including his opponents, while others believe that this is just part of the game and that each player should use every opportunity to win.
The chess community continues to discuss this story, and many believe that this could set a precedent for future tournaments, where organizers will need to take stricter measures to prevent such fraud.
