(ORDO NEWS) — The Japanese company Astro Live Experiences (ALE) will again try to create artificial meteors.
Her previous experiment, conducted in 2020, ended in failure. The company is now raising money for a new satellite using NFTs.
Osaka-based Japanese company ALE has announced a fundraiser for a project to create an artificial meteorite.
In 2019, it already launched the ALE-2 satellite into space, which in 2020 showed the effect of “shooting stars” over a given area, but this did not happen due to technical problems.
ALE previously promised a new demonstration in 2023, but has just started raising money for it.
According to company representatives, the technology for obtaining light effects in the atmosphere consists in the fact that on board the satellite there is a substance that is harmless to the environment, which it will drop into the atmosphere, and there it will burn at an altitude of 60-80 km like natural meteors.
First of all, the company offers its services to the organizers of various holidays, but specifies that artificial meteors can be used to study the properties of the upper atmosphere.
The company has not yet announced when the next satellite will be launched.
Some experts are wondering how artificial meteors will affect astronomers’ ability to study the sky?
For example, the dispute between SpaceX and astronomers has been going on for years, regarding too bright and numerous Starlink satellites. It is possible that this project will cause something similar.
