(ORDO NEWS) — British archaeologists have discovered a fragment of an ancient Roman stone altar during excavations in Leicester Cathedral.
It is a piece of sandstone decorated with stucco, the size of which is 25 × 15 centimeters. According to researchers, initially it reached about 60 centimeters in height.
The ancient artifact was found inside the room, the size of which is approximately four by four meters. It was built in the 2nd century AD and abandoned at the end of the 3rd or the beginning of the 4th century.
