(ORDO NEWS) — Intense activity on the Nishinoshima Volcano, the crater of the peak expands as explosive eruptions continue, Japan.
Nishinoshima entered a period of intense volcanic activity, with frequent explosive eruptions and ash emissions observed in recent days. Its crater expanded southwestward, according to Japan’s Coast Guard (JCG).
The volcano violently emits columns of black smoke reaching a height of more than 3,400 m.
Lava flows down the southwestern slope and flows into the sea.
