
6.6 million Americans apply for unemployment benefits in two weeks
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The number of applications in the United States for unemployment benefits due to the spread of coronavirus over the past two weeks has increased to a record 6.6 million. This is stated in a statement released on Thursday by the Ministry of Labor.
“Last week, ending March 28, the number of applications increased by 3 million 341 thousand, up to 6 million 648 thousand, compared with the previous week in 3 million 307 thousand applications,” the department said.
Over the past month, 10.4 million Americans lost their jobs and applied for benefits.
