US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The United States did not provide the World Health Organization (WHO) with information that the coronavirus may be of laboratory origin. This was announced on Monday at a briefing for journalists by the director of the WHO emergency health program Michael Ryan.
“We did not receive information confirming the laboratory origin of the virus,” he noted.
“This is a speculative statement. If the United States has this information, they must decide when and how to share it. For now, we are working on the basis of the information that the we have at our disposal, on the basis of evidence obtained from the analysis of genetic sequences. Everything confirms that we are talking about the natural origin of the virus.”
“Political problems often arise,” the expert added. “But the focus of all our efforts should be science, scientists. We must conduct scientific investigations.”
Earlier, US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo on ABC said that the US administration has evidence that the new coronavirus allegedly began to spread from a laboratory in Wuhan, China.
