US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — During a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the authorities were ready to participate in arms control negotiations. He announced this on Wednesday, May 6, on his Twitter.
“In a conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov, I confirmed that we are ready to participate in negotiations that contribute to the security of the United States and our partners. We will continue to insist on mechanisms that are verifiable and enforceable,” the United States Secretary of State wrote on his social media page.
The telephone conversations of the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the United States and Russia were reported earlier by the press service of the US Department of State.
On April 17, Lavrov and Pompeo during a telephone conversation agreed to intensify the dialogue on arms limitation and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
