(ORDO NEWS) — An orange alert level has been declared in Colombia due to the increased activity of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano, which is considered one of the most dangerous in the world.
The volcano is showing signs of increased activity, and the Colombian government has taken steps to expedite the evacuation of residents living in departments located near the volcano.
Seismic activity in the Nevado del Ruiz region has increased to levels not seen since the 1985 eruption that killed more than 25,000 people, according to the Geological Survey of Colombia.
Colombian President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego called on people to evacuate and demanded that the authorities speed up their response to the situation.
The Nevado del Ruiz volcano in Colombia is considered one of the most dangerous in the world.
In the last century, he repeatedly showed his activity, which led to destructive eruptions and the death of thousands of people.
The largest eruption occurred on November 13, 1985 and claimed the lives of more than 25 thousand people.

About 57 thousand people live in the departments located near Nevado del Ruiz.
