(ORDO NEWS) — The space agency yesterday, Thursday, announced a new study that will bring together leading scientists to study unidentified atmospheric phenomena – a subject that has long attracted public attention, and recently received a lot of attention from the US Congress.
This project will start in early autumn of this year and will last for about 9 months. As part of the project, scientists will try to interpret the available data, develop methods for collecting data for the future, as well as methods for processing and interpreting them.
“For decades, NASA has sought to unravel nature’s most mysterious phenomena, and this case was no exception,” Daniel Evans, the NASA scientist responsible for coordinating the new study, told reporters.
With a wide arsenal of scientific tools, NASA plans to demystify the topic of UFOs and offer possible scientific explanations for observed atmospheric phenomena in order to improve the safety of aircraft in the Earth‘s atmosphere.
The announcement comes amid rising UFO scrutiny by Congress, which last month held public hearings on the subject, while a U.S. intelligence report last year counted 144 sightings that could not be rationalized. US intelligence officials do not rule out the possibility of extraterrestrial interference, the report said.
