US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Loss of smell and taste are key signs of coronavirus infection. This conclusion was made by scientists from King’s College in London.
According to experts, in 59 percent of patients with these symptoms, the coronavirus test was positive. Moreover, this indicator was more accurate for determining coronavirus than elevated temperature.
Scientists point out that, in combination with other symptoms in people with a loss of smell and taste, the likelihood of coronavirus infection is three times higher, and recommend that when these signs appear, resort to strict self-isolation for seven days.
Earlier, a representative of the World Health Organization in Russia, Melita Vujnovich, said that the main symptoms of coronavirus are severely complicated breathing with dry cough and high fever.
The COVID-19 pandemic, the first cases of which were discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of last year, covered almost 200 countries. According to the latest WHO data, more than 750 thousand people have been infected worldwide, over 36 thousand have died.
