(ORDO NEWS) — In the 1960s, the Peel Engineering Company released the Peel P50 three-wheeled microcar, then it made a splash.
And in 2010, Peel P50 was in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest car ever produced. Today, the electric version of the P50 has appeared in the form of a construction set for adults.
Although production of the P50 ceased in 1965, a few determined businessmen were able to revive the brand. This happened back in 2011, but at first the company produced finished cars, 15 pieces a year.
The new company, called P50 Cars, built actual copies of the famous car (mechanics and suspension were different, of course), and besides, the P50 became electric.
But now this tiny vehicle is offered as a kit-car, that is, a kit for self-assembly.
The kit includes wheels, bodywork, seat, steering wheel, transmission and everything else you need to build the world‘s smallest electric car.
It takes about 50 hours to assemble, but the British manufacturer also sells fully assembled versions.
The new electric version received a 4 kW motor that accelerates a small electric car to a maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour.
The self-assembly kit costs $12,600.
