US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Billionaire George Soros said on Monday that his Open Society Foundation would set aside 1 million euros to fight the coronavirus in Budapest.
“The COVID-19 pandemic knows no boundaries – between countries, communities, religions, or people,” Soros said in a statement. “Anyone can get infected, but some of us are more vulnerable than others.”
“I was born in Budapest, in the midst of the Great Depression, just ten years after thousands of people died from the Spanish flu in Budapest,” he said.
“I survived World War II, the rule of the Crossed Arrows and the siege of the city. I remember how it feels to live in extreme conditions.”
