NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — In the latest episode of the long-running television series ‘The Simpsons,’ viewers were treated to a humorous yet thought-provoking glimpse into what could potentially be the fate of Elon Musk‘s ventures, particularly X and SpaceX.
Known for its uncanny ability to make predictions that eventually come true, ‘The Simpsons’ has once again sparked conversations with its futuristic storyline.
This particular episode, titled ‘Thirst Trap: A Corporate Love Story,’ is part of the 35th season of the series and is presented in a documentary-style format.
The focus of the episode centers around the iconic Mr. Burns, the wealthy and often eccentric character, who embarks on a love story with a young college dropout CEO named Persephone, voiced by Elizabeth Banks.
The plot revolves around the amusingly dubious project of Persephone’s company, which claims to have the ability to transform saltwater into drinking water.
The crafty con artist convinces Mr. Burns to invest heavily in her Life Boat company, depleting a significant portion of his fortune, and persuades his affluent acquaintances to follow suit.
As the story unfolds, Mr. Burns and Persephone eventually get married and are hailed as the new “it” power couple. In a celebratory moment during Persephone’s birthday, Mr. Burns presents her with a gift adorned with a blue bird on the cover.
Persephone, puzzled by the choice of the gift, humorously questions if it is a Twitter gift card. To her astonishment, Mr. Burns reveals, “No, I bought you the entire company.”
The episode does not overtly mention Elon Musk, but it strongly alludes to him as the former owner of the company, given the narrative that he sold Twitter after his “self-driving Mars rocket crashed into the international space station.”
This fictional scenario and its humorous take on Musk’s potential future ventures garnered significant attention on social media platforms.
Fans of ‘The Simpsons’ were quick to draw parallels between the storyline and Musk’s real-world undertakings. Some even went as far as speculating that the show might once again be on the mark in its predictions.
One user tweeted, “The Simpsons just warned us that one of Elon Musk’s spaceships is going to collide with the US space station – they’re undefeated at calling future tragedies.”
Another enthusiastic viewer posted, “BREAKING FUTURE NEWS: They’re planning on sabotaging one of Elon Musk’s rockets to crash into the international space station & force him to sell X aka (TWITTER). It was announced on THE SIMPSONS.”
Elon Musk has previously made a guest appearance on ‘The Simpsons’ in the 2015 episode titled ‘The Musk Who Fell to Earth.’
In this episode, Musk lands in the town of Springfield via a rocket capsule and transforms the town into a dystopia by introducing products he believes will benefit the residents.
This includes running the power station on eco-friendly electricity, which, ironically, leads to a decline in profits and mass unemployment. Musk’s character is eventually asked to leave Springfield.
Fans of the show also pointed out that ‘The Simpsons’ seemed to predict the rebranding of Twitter to “X.” In a 2012 episode of the series, titled ‘Ned ‘n’ Edna’s Blend Agenda,’ viewers can spot a humorous instance of Homer using an app that eerily resembles the new logo of the platform.
This prediction, while lighthearted in nature, adds yet another layer of intrigue to the show’s knack for foretelling future events.
As the animated series continues to entertain and surprise its audience, it remains to be seen whether any more of its predictions will come true, further cementing its status as a unique pop culture phenomenon with a keen eye on the future.
