(ORDO NEWS) — The Chinese lander Change 4 began to work again on the far side of the moon, but scientists became interested in those discoveries that were made with the aid of the device a little earlier.
According to the Chinese media, the lunar rover found an interesting piece of stone on the far side of the moon, called a milestone.
This elongated stone, according to experts, requires more careful research. In order to study the discovered stone, the experts were going to use a special device Yutu 2s Visible and Near-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (VNIS). He is able to fix the light that is reflected from a certain material and thus establishes its composition.
Dan Moriarty stated that the rock looks like a shard partially sticking out of the surface of the moon. Its shape and the presence of a well-defined ridge indicates that the stone is relatively young and came to the moon not so long ago.
Moriarty added that most likely the rock was thrown from a crater, which is located near the location of the fragment. Clive Neal, who works at the University of Notre Dame, agreed with this version.
Further research will provide much more information about the find, as well as how exactly the stone ended up in this place.
