(ORDO NEWS) — China has successfully completed the first fire test of a fully assembled new YF-130 twin-nozzle liquid rocket engine.
This was reported by the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), which developed the YF-130.
The tests were completed at the CASC Research Institute. When summarizing their results, it was announced that the YF-130 engine with a maximum thrust of 500 tons was four times the Chinese YF-100, which develops a thrust of 120 tons and is used in China’s Long March 5, 6 and 7 rockets. Chinese engine uses liquid kerosene and oxygen.
The new powerful engine is planned to be used in the first stage of the Long March 9 super-heavy rocket, which will be able to fly to the Moon and Mars.
