(ORDO NEWS) — The magnetic filament passing through the corpse of the decayed sunspot AR3016 flared up on May 25 (1824 UT), producing an M1 class solar flare. NASA‘s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the flare.
Coronagraph images from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) confirm that the explosion ejected a CME into space.
A first look at the data suggests that the main part of the CME will pass by the Earth, but, apparently, there is also a component directed towards the Earth.
Part of the CME could hit our planet on May 28 or 29.
