(ORDO NEWS) — A historic drought has hit Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. The worst drought in 40 years has affected more than 20 million people in the Horn of Africa.
Harvests and food supplies were destroyed after the rains were delayed for the fourth year in a row.
The effects of the drought have intensified following the rise in food prices caused by events elsewhere in the world.
The dry weather also led to sandstorms and dust devils, causing additional impacts in the region.
Relief services are working to help affected citizens as the situation could worsen in the coming weeks.
