NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — In a significant development, a long-standing mystery surrounding the murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur appears to be edging toward a resolution.
Las Vegas police have recently arrested and charged Duane “Keefe D” Davis in connection with the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, who was only 25 years old at the time.
The murder case of Tupac Shakur has remained an enigma for 27 years, giving rise to numerous theories and documentaries. Davis, aged 60 and a former gang member, had previously claimed that his nephew, Orlando Anderson, was responsible for the fatal drive-by shooting of Tupac. Orlando Anderson passed away in 1998.
Davis’s connection to the case has been explored in various forms over the years. In his 2019 memoir, “Compton Street Legend,” he asserted that he was present in the Cadillac during the drive-by shooting that took Tupac’s life. He also revealed this information in an interview for BET in 2018.
Davis described himself as one of the last living witnesses to the murder and claimed that he initially disclosed details of the incident during a closed-door meeting with federal and local authorities in 2010.
At that time, he was facing life imprisonment on drug charges and suggested that authorities had offered him a deal in exchange for his cooperation.
Greg Kading, a retired Los Angeles police detective who extensively investigated the Shakur murder and authored a book on the subject, expressed that Davis’s arrest was long overdue and emphasized that the case had never been unsolved in the minds of investigators, only unprosecuted. Kading noted that Davis is the last surviving individual among those who conspired to kill Tupac.
Davis’s arrest came following a police raid on his wife’s residence two months earlier. According to documents, the police were seeking items related to the murder of Tupac Shakur. During the raid, investigators collected various items, including computers, a cell phone, a hard drive, .40-caliber bullets, and photographs.
The arrest of Davis has generated significant global attention and may potentially lead to further revelations about the events surrounding Tupac Shakur’s tragic murder.
This development has reignited interest in one of the most enduring mysteries in the history of music and crime, and it comes as a long-awaited step toward possible closure in a case that has puzzled the world for nearly three decades.
