(ORDO NEWS) — Commander of the US Space Forces Jack Dickinson expressed concern that the situation with the restriction of the use of Starlink Internet satellites for the military needs of Ukraine could be repeated for the US Army.
Let me remind you that SpaceX decided to limit the use of its Starlink Internet satellites for Ukraine, as the management of the aerospace company learned that the Ukrainians used Starlink for military purposes, in particular to control drones.
Now the US military is worried about the current situation, where commercial communication service providers can effectively limit the military use of satellites, as happened in the case of Starlink and the Armed Forces of Ukraine (UAF).
The discussion about whether this could happen to the US military also arose during a meeting of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
Now the US military wants to insure itself against a repeat of the Starlink situation by discussing in advance with commercial providers exactly what the services they offer will be used for.
