(ORDO NEWS) — A rare astronomical phenomenon awaits the inhabitants of the Earth in August! Two stunning supermoons promise to capture the imagination of nighttime observers. According to the Sky News channel, the first will take place on August 1, and the second on August 30.
Astronomers are surprised to note that in such a short period of time to see two supermoons is real luck! After all, usually such astronomical phenomena occur at intervals of many years, and people often have to wait a long time to again plunge into the magical atmosphere of supermoonlight.
At the time when the Moon will be at the closest possible distance to the Earth, its size in the sky will exceed all expectations. Opening our eyes to the bewitching night element, we will see the Moon, enlarged by 14 percent.
This spectacle creates the feeling that the moon seemed to have approached us. Moreover, its glow at such moments will be much brighter than usual – by 30 percent!
NASA astrophysicist Fred Espenak delicately points out that warm summer nights are the perfect time to observe the full moon, which will rise in the eastern sky shortly after sunset. The expert advises to just get outside, find a place where the sky is clear and the stars are bright, and enjoy the unique phenomenon.
