(ORDO NEWS) — The Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the decision made by Her Majesty, citing the fact that all agreements have been agreed and reflect the wishes of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Daily Mail reports that Prince William and Prince Harry will not walk side by side during the funeral procession for Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday, April 17. By the decision of Queen Elizabeth II, Peter Phillips, the cousin of the princes, will be put between them.
Some of the British took this decision as a missed opportunity to demonstrate family unity after the death of Prince Philip. Others suggested that this could have happened at the request of one of the brothers, since recently, the relationship between Harry and William has changed significantly for the worse.
Royal biographer Hugo Vickers suggested that Peter Phillips, Philip’s eldest grandson, may have been specially selected to help his two younger cousins find their way to reconciliation.
Hugo Vickers also noted that after the death of Princess Diana, Peter Phillips took care of the boys and, together with the Queen, played the role of a mediator in difficult life situations.
At the funeral of the Queen’s husband, there will be the closest people, only 30 people. These are all the children and grandchildren of Philip, their spouses and close relatives, including the son of Princess Margaret, Earl of Snowdon. The only non-related member of the funeral procession will be the late Duke’s close friend and driving partner, Countess Mountbatten, Burmese Penny Knatchbull.
After Harry and Meghan’s sharp break with the royal family, William and Harry’s relationship turned cold. They were last seen together in public last March at a Commonwealth Day service.
The relationship between the siblings soured further after Meghan and Harry gave Oprah Winfrey an interview last month. In it, Meghan Markle and her husband expressed a number of complaints against high-ranking members of the royal family, while Prince Philip was in the hospital.
The couple’s interview, in which the media noted many lies, negatively influenced the popularity of the youngest son of Princess Diana and his wife in the UK.
