NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — In the scenic Xinyuzhai region of China‘s Hunan province lies the world‘s most inconvenient convenience store – a small wooden hut perched on the side of a sheer cliff 120 meters above the ground.
The store is located right next to Via Ferrata, which visitors can navigate using iron handrails, horizontal stairs and fixed cables. This unique convenience store used to be a climbing hut where climbers could rest in the middle of their climb up the cliff.
However, a few years ago it was converted into this very quaint convenience store that provides free water to patrons as long as they bring their own refillable water containers, as well as liquor, sodas and juices for a fee. The hanging convenience store has been rumored to be open for years, but only recently went viral after videos of it began circulating online.
The world’s most inconvenient convenience store caters to tourists during the busy Mid-Autumn Festival and National Holidays, giving them a chance to drink water and take their mind off the climb.
The small wooden shop is located on the side of a vertical cliff wall, 120 meters above the ground. It can only accommodate one person. When it’s time to replenish supplies, employees use a rope to retrieve supplies from the ground.
