NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — Elon Musk‘s SpaceX is preparing to launch an innovative service that promises to change the cellular paradigm. Starlink Direct to Cell, as reported by PCMag journalists, is a revolutionary project that allows you to connect smartphones directly to satellites and provide reliable cellular communications and Internet access.
The website Direct.Starlink.com, discovered by the publication’s journalists, provides information about the new service. Currently, connecting to Starlink requires a specialized terminal. However, SpaceX promises a breakthrough in this area.
According to the company, it plans to begin transmitting SMS via satellites in 2024, and in 2025, users will be able to enjoy voice communications and Internet access through Starlink. This means that even in remote corners of the planet where there is no access to conventional mobile networks, you can stay connected and connect your smart devices.
One of the key characteristics of the new technology is the ability to connect a smartphone to an LTE network “wherever there is open sky.” SpaceX is introducing an advanced eNodeB modem that works like a mobile tower in space. In this case, users will not need to modify their smartphones.
SpaceX also announced that it will begin testing the connection of Starlink satellites to smartphones in March. SpaceX is partnering with leading cellular provider T-Mobile for this project, which will provide additional benefits for future users.
