At the bottom of the Baltic Sea, a large, almost perfectly round object with a diameter of about 60 meters, which many consider to be a UFO, was discovered. One of the popular hypotheses is that it is a sunken alien ship, which left furrows up to 300 meters long when it crash-landed, Daily Mirror writes.
A circle of pieces of metal on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, which is more than 140,000 years old, has interested many divers, who have repeatedly tried to explore this object.
In 2011, Swedish researchers Peter Lindberg and Denis Asberg, while searching for treasures in the northern part of the Baltic Sea, using sonar, discovered a 70-foot fragment in the canyon of an underwater mountain in the Gulf of Bothnia.
“We consulted with geologists and marine biologists, and none of them had seen anything like this before. This is a really impressive find,” said Asberg.
The researchers also reported the presence of a “long staircase leading to a dark hole” and another mysterious object at a distance of about 200 meters. These details added to the mystery, and scientists put forward various theories: from the remains of the lost Atlantis to anti-ship devices of the Second World War.
Stefan Hogerborn, a diver from the Ocean X team, pointed out another strange feature: electrical and satellite equipment stops working near the object.
“When we were above the object, the satellite phone stopped working, but it was worth moving away for about 200 meters before it started working again,” he explained.
Volker Bruchert, a geologist at Stockholm University, examined the samples collected by the Ocean-X team and identified them as granite, gneiss and sandstone. He believes that there is nothing mysterious about this discovery.
“I was amazed when I studied the material and found a large black stone, possibly of volcanic origin. My theory is that this object was formed during one of the ice ages,” Bruchert said.
Maritime archaeologist from the Stockholm Museum, Joran Ekberg, also expressed his opinion, noting that the find has an unusual appearance due to its perfectly round shape. He suggested that the object could have been formed as a result of a glacier slide.
