Scientists have discovered a virus in cats that can be transmitted to humans
(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists at the Center for Vaccine Research at the University of Pittsburgh spoke about a virus that can be transmitted from cats to humans.
This was reported by the publication Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The virus is called morbillivirus, or FeMV. It is passed through the urine and affects the kidneys
It was first discovered about 10 years ago in cats in Asia and Europe.
It is not known when it was last transmitted to humans, but experts believe that in the near future it may mutate and begin to manifest itself again in humans.
“The discovery was also made that a conventional measles vaccine protects a person from this virus, while those people who are not vaccinated were susceptible to a new disease.”
