Researchers: World may fall into a “loop of death” due to climate change

(ORDO NEWS) — Analysts at the British center IPPR predicted that the planet could be in a “loop of death” due to climate change. This is reported on the official website of the organization.

It is noted that at the 74th regular session of the UN, the topic of joint activities to maintain the global temperature rise below 1.5 ° C was discussed.

The researchers believe that the failure of states to cope with the climate and environmental crisis may lead to consequences that will challenge the ability of society to address the root causes of this crisis, that is, to the formation of a “loop of death”.

In their opinion, the consequences of crises, the inability to cope with them, divert attention and resources from eliminating its causes.

In particular, experts explained, society is discussing the inevitability of a temperature rise of 1.5°C, instead of taking appropriate measures to reduce it.

Systematic efforts are needed to address the threats and seize the opportunities for rapid environmental action created by the deepening effects of the crisis, analysts said.

Otherwise, the world could plunge further into a deadly spiral of accelerating environmental upheaval and counterproductive defensive responses, the researchers concluded.
