NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — St Teresa Eregi Girls’ School in Kenya is gripped by terror and panic as a mysterious epidemic paralyzes the limbs of students. According to the latest data, more than 95 girls have died after contracting this mysterious disease, and the number of those infected continues to grow. The Daily Star reports.
The situation became even more tense after the sudden death of 33 students in one night. After many children became paralyzed, all students were quickly hospitalized. These events caused a wave of panic among parents. The school was forced to suspend its activities to prevent further spread of the infection and is currently closed.
Western Region Education Director Jared Obiero expressed concern about the situation.
“We had to allow parents who wanted to pick up their children to sign an undertaking. The safety of our students is our priority,” Obiero said.
A mysterious disease is causing concern among doctors. Kakamega County Director of Health Services Stephen Vander stressed that the infection poses a threat to entire families and requires immediate investigation.
“We must find out what caused this epidemic before allowing students to return home. The spread of the disease could be catastrophic,” he said.
Authorities have called for school closures indefinitely in an attempt to stop the spread of the infection. School officials said the closure will be lifted after assessing the situation and taking the necessary measures.
The investigation is ongoing and blood samples from the students have been sent to the laboratories of the Kenya Medical Research Institute in search of answers that will help control this mysterious disease and save the lives of those already infected.
