NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — The east of Yemen, Al-Mahra province, hides one of the most mysterious places on the planet – the well of Barkhut, also known as the “Well of Hell”. This place, surrounded by mystery and mysticism, attracts the attention of not only local residents, but also researchers from all over the world.
The giant hole in the Al Mahra Desert is 30 meters wide and 100 to 250 meters deep. It is located closer to the border with Oman than to the Yemeni capital, Sanaa. Local folklore claims that this well was created as a prison for demons. This assumption is supported by the bad odors that rise from its depths.
Yemeni officials admit they do not know what lies underground inside the well. Director General of the Geological Exploration and Mineral Resources Department of Mahra, Salah Babkhair, noted that the well has a huge depth, which no one has descended to the very bottom due to lack of oxygen and ventilation.
However, when visiting this area and descending into the well to a depth of 50-60 meters, the researchers noticed strange things and smelled a strange smell. This raises even more questions and interest in this mysterious place.
The Barkhut Well has been around for “millions and millions” of years, according to Salah Babkhair. He notes that such places require additional research and study. This raises questions about the origins and nature of this place.
Stories about the Barkhut well have been passed down from generation to generation. According to legend, it is inhabited by evil supernatural beings known as genies. Many locals are still afraid to visit this place or even talk about it, fearing the arrival of misfortune from its abyss.
Despite all the mysteries and mysticism surrounding the Barkhut well, it remains inaccessible to the general public. However, this does not stop the curiosity and desire of researchers to uncover its secrets.
