(ORDO NEWS) — Spanish scientists have studied a clay figurine of a large horned animal found at a Neolithic settlement in Syria. They found three fingerprints on it, two of which were analyzed.
If we assume that they were left by the same person, then, according to the researchers, he was a young man, whose age was about 17-19.5 years.
The ancient artifact, which measures 6.7 centimeters in length, is one of 45 figurines unearthed during excavations at Tell Halula, a major Pre-Pottery Neolithic B site located in Syria, about 105 kilometers from the city of Aleppo.
Although the exact context of the find is unknown, scientists have noted that the clay figurines from this settlement are grave goods that accompanied the dead along with stone and bone tools, personal adornments and other artifacts.
