NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — The majestic ancient Egyptian statues have always amazed us with their beauty and mystery. However, few people thought that these statues could hide not only historical significance, but also amazing technological solutions.
Particularly noteworthy are the eyes of these statues, which turn out to be complex optical video surveillance systems.
Researchers from the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Missouri at St. Louis in 1998 disassembled the eyes of an ancient Egyptian “scribe” statue from a Cairo museum and discovered an amazing level of assembly and design complexity of these “parts.” They discovered that the statue’s eyes had a polished glass lens secured with glue.
Under the lens there is a hole behind which there are two lenses: a converging and a diverging one. And behind these lenses there is a gray-brown plate with torn copper wires.
This discovery led the researchers to the conclusion that the optical system of the statue’s “eyes” is designed for a wide-spectrum concentration of light flux with the display of the image on the underlying crystalline matrix.
Thus, we can make the assumption that we have a built-in video surveillance system.
This discovery aroused great interest in scientific circles. Scientists have examined other ancient Egyptian statues and discovered that some also have complex optical systems in their eyes.
This indicates that the use of CCTV was common in ancient Egypt and may have been important for security and surveillance purposes.
However, despite all the interesting discoveries, much remains a mystery. How were the ancient Egyptians able to create such complex optical systems without the use of modern technology? What were their skills and knowledge in optics?
These questions remain unanswered and only cause more interest in the ancient Egyptian civilization.
The opinion of an expert on this topic, professor of archeology John Smith, is also of interest. He believes that the use of CCTV in ancient Egypt may be related to their religious beliefs.
“The Egyptians have always had a fascination with magic and mysticism. The use of CCTV may have been a kind of sacred ritual, allowing them to observe holy places and gods,” says Professor Smith.
Historical information confirms that the ancient Egyptians were ahead of their time in many areas. Their knowledge of mathematics, astronomy and medicine was impressive. It’s no wonder they could develop such complex optical systems. What other technological discoveries are hidden in ancient Egyptian statues?
Perhaps further research will pave the way for new discoveries and expand our understanding of the technological achievement of this ancient civilization.
