(ORDO NEWS) — In 2011, the exoplanet KOI-3010.01 was discovered orbiting the red dwarf KOI-3010, 1213.4 light-years away from the solar system.
KOI-3010.01 is about 1.78 times larger and twice as heavy as Earth, and completes an orbit around the parent star in 60.87 days. The exoplanet fits perfectly into the habitable zone.
The average surface temperature of the parent star KOI- 3010.01 is 4092 K, which is almost 29% lower than on the surface of the Sun.
This explains why, with such a close position of the exoplanet, the conditions on it are very comfortable.
If we talk about the chemical composition of KOI-3010.01, then, according to most data, it is almost the same as that of the Earth.
The density of the atmosphere, like the composition, is very similar to the atmosphere of our planet.
It is believed that the surface of KOI-3010.01 is 65-70% covered by the ocean (on Earth this figure is 70.8%). The average temperature on the surface is about 20 degrees Celsius (15 degrees on Earth).
The conditions for the origin and maintenance of life, which KOI-3010.01 has, are 6% more comfortable than on Earth.
Given the fact that KOI-3010.01 is almost twice as old as Earth, the likelihood that life appeared and developed there is very high.
The video above gives a glimpse of what the distant and mysterious world of KOI-3010.01 might look like.
