US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The capsule for the Dragon crew was mounted on a spaceship at Cape Canaveral, Florida Air Force Station, in preparation for the launch of the NASA SpaceX Demo-2 mission.
NASA astronauts Robert Benken and Douglas Hurley will fly to the International Space Station aboard the Dragon spaceship, which will be launched on the Falcon 9 launch vehicle.
Launch from the launch complex 39A of the Kennedy Space Center is scheduled for May 27, 2020 at 20:32 GMT.
Demo-2 will serve as the next step in testing the SpaceX campaign’s transport system for crew delivery, paving the way for certification of the system for regular flights to the ISS as part of NASA’s commercial crew program.
The NASA SpaceX Demo-2 mission will be the first flight with the crew to the ISS, which will be launched from the United States since the completion of the Space Shuttle program in 2011.
