(ORDO NEWS) — All minks on Danish fur farms will be destroyed. This decision was made by the country’s authorities after the discovery of a mutated infection in these animals, which spreads to humans and weakens the ability to form antibodies. The decision was announced at a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Office.
“Currently, 12 people with a mutated virus have been registered. Decisive action is needed to stop the spread of the infection,” TASS quoted Mette Frederiksen as saying.
The military and the Danish Emergency Management Agency will assist farmers in killing minks.
The coronavirus has spread rapidly among 1,139 fur farms in Denmark. Farms in North Jutland were particularly affected.
