Study: Coffee with milk can suppress inflammation

(ORDO NEWS) — Researchers from the University of Copenhagen have found that the combination of coffee and milk can suppress inflammation.

The scientists studied the effects of the body’s reaction when polyphenol antioxidants were mixed with amino acids, the building blocks of proteins. Polyphenols are found in coffee, tea, various fruits and vegetables.

Researchers artificially induced inflammation in immune cells and then tried to suppress it.

It turned out that the combination of polyphenols and amino acids is twice as effective in fighting inflammation in cells than the “pure” antioxidant – polyphenol.

When a polyphenol reacts with an amino acid, it has an additional inhibitory (blocking) effect on inflammation in immune cells.

Other studies have shown that polyphenols bind to proteins in certain foods and drinks, including coffee with milk.

A similar reaction can occur between polyphenols and amino acids in a meat dish with vegetables or fruit and vegetable smoothie mixes with milk or yogurt.
