NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — A series of earthquakes rocked western Afghanistan, with the initial and largest quake registering a magnitude of 6.3, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Subsequent quakes followed, with magnitudes of 5.5, 4.7, and 5.9. The last of these earthquakes occurred approximately 20 miles northwest of the city of Herat.
As of now, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries resulting from these earthquakes. However, the region remains on alert, and authorities will continue to assess the situation.
Earthquakes are not uncommon in Afghanistan, given its location in a seismically active zone. It’s important for residents and officials in the affected areas to remain vigilant and prepared for potential aftershocks or further seismic activity.
