NEW YORK, BRONX (ORDO News) — Comedian Russell Brand has been questioned by Metropolitan Police officers in South London earlier this week over three alleged historical sexual offences.
The 48-year-old visited a police station on November 16 and was interviewed under caution.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the questioning, stating that a man in his late forties attended the station in relation to the non-recent sexual offences, and investigations are ongoing.
The questioning follows previous accusations against Russell Brand, where he faced allegations of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse during the peak of his fame.
These allegations were made public in a documentary by Channel 4’s Dispatches, The Times, and The Sunday Times on September 16 and 17.
Four women came forward with claims of incidents occurring between 2006 and 2013. It remains unclear if the recent police questioning is directly related to the allegations presented in the documentary.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, leading the inquiry, encouraged anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a sexual offence, regardless of when it occurred, to come forward.
Russell Brand has consistently denied the allegations, issuing a lengthy statement online after the accusations became public.
He refuted the serious criminal allegations and pointed out the existence of witnesses whose evidence contradicted the narrative presented in the media.
Brand stated, “I feel like I’m being attacked, and plainly they’re working very closely together. We are obviously going to look into this matter ‘cause it’s very, very serious.”
As of now, there has been no official comment from Russell Brand regarding the recent police questioning. Both the Daily Star and the Metropolitan Police have been contacted for further comments.
The situation continues to unfold as investigations into the allegations and subsequent police interviews progress.
