Rocket Lab has successfully tested an engine that has been in space
(ORDO NEWS) — Aerospace company Rocket Lab has published a video demonstrating the successful burning of a Rutherford engine that traveled to space and then returned to Earth as part of the There And Back Again expedition.
The There And Back Again flight took place on May 2, 2022. The main task of the expedition was to launch 34 cubesats of various commercial customers into orbit, as well as return the first stage of the Electron rocket, which was picked up by a specially modernized helicopter during parachute descent and then delivered to land.

After examining the stage, Rocket Lab engineers concluded that it was in good technical condition and quite suitable for re-flight into space.
To assess the condition of the engines, the engineers burned one of them (the first stage of the Electron rocket is equipped with nine power units). The test simulated a re-flight into space, and the burn was successful.
