(ORDO NEWS) — Space startup Relativity Space canceled the first flight of its new 3D-printed Terran 1 rocket on Wednesday (March 8) in the final minutes of liftoff.
According to the company, this happened “due to the temperature parameters of the second stage fuel, exceeding the criteria under which launch is possible.”
The next Terran 1 launch attempt is scheduled for Saturday, March 11th.
Aerospace company Relativity Space has built a two-stage 33-meter Terran 1 rocket with 85% of its structure 3D printed.
Including: the rocket body itself, nine Aeon engines in the first stage of the rocket, and an Aeon Vac engine in the second.
Terran 1 is designed to carry a payload of up to 1,250 kilograms to low Earth orbit and can deliver 900 kilograms to sun-synchronous orbit at a cost of about $12 million per flight, according to Relativity Space.
