Mitchell, who was the sixth person to walk on the Moon, was interviewed in 2016, admitting to believing in the existence of aliens and speaking out loud about claims that aliens have visited Earth.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, he made the startling claim that aliens were responsible for preventing a nuclear war between the United States and the Soviet Union at a time when Cold War tensions were at their peak.
During this conversation, Mr. Mitchell also discussed the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
“White Sands was a nuclear weapons testing site, aliens were interested in that,” he said. “They wanted to know about our military capabilities. The White Sands Missile Range was the site where the first atomic bomb was detonated in 1945, and Mitchell claimed that the police there told him that aliens were neutralizing missiles flying over the site.
