(ORDO NEWS) — Despite the fact that Mars is dusty and cold, it has a rare beauty that cannot be overlooked. As the sun rises on the Red Planet, high clouds float gracefully across the sky captured by NASA‘s Perseverance rover.

Recently, the Perseverance rover , searching for evidence of ancient life, took pictures of drifting clouds on Mars before sunrise.

Although the planet is dry and dusty today, scientists believe that water once collected and flowed across its surface billions of years ago, potentially supporting microbial life.

These cloud images, taken on the 738th Martian day (sol) of the mission, were posted on the mission’s Twitter account and captured by one of the rover’s navigation cameras.

In 2022, NASA launched a program to study Martian clouds, which are composed of carbon dioxide or dry ice.

The study of these clouds allows you to get an idea of the planet’s atmosphere at altitudes from 50 to 80 kilometers. This study is essential for understanding Mars’ environmental conditions and potential for life.

The rover recently reached a new area called Bereya, where it will explore an intriguing layered rock.

Perseverance, along with Ingenuity’s helicopter, explores an ancient river delta in Jezero Crater, which is believed to have once harbored life.

The helicopter has successfully completed 48 flights, covered 11 kilometers, and still continues to function.
