(ORDO NEWS) — In the American state of Mississippi, hunters managed to set a new record by catching a huge alligator. This is reported by Lad Bible.

A group of hunters discovered this giant on the Yazoo River, but the prey put up a fierce resistance, and it was only possible to pull it on board after a difficult struggle. When the alligator was finally brought to land, it turned out to be the largest alligator in the entire state.

Its length was more than 4 meters, and its weight reached 360 kilograms. Thus, the hunters broke the previous record, which stood for about 6 years – the previous record holder had the same length, but less weight.

According to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the creature’s body girth was 167 centimeters and its tail was 118 centimeters.

“We tackled him eight or nine times and he kept coming away. He came down, sat down, and then left. He continued to walk under the logs. He knew what he was doing. The craziest thing is that he stayed in the same place,” said one of the hunters.

It is noted that for the past 1.5 years, state legislation has allowed alligator hunting during a certain period. This measure helps to maintain a stable population. This group of hunters was able to catch this giant on the second day of the season, which ends next week.
